Meet
JAmael Lundy
Jamael Lundy, J.D., is a creative political strategist, community organizer, and policy analyst who works with government agencies, political campaigns, and nonprofit organizations on policy development and community outreach. He currently works as the Intergovernmental Affairs Manager in the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.
Before working at the Hennepin County Attorney's Office and being a Policy Director at the Minnesota Justice Research Center, Jamael worked as the Committee Administrator for the Minnesota House of Representatives Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Committee. There, he was integral to the passage of several criminal justice policy reforms including the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission’s (MSGC) decision to act to cap probation at 5 years, the collection of police accountability reform laws entitled the ‘Minnesota Police Accountability Act’ that the legislature passed after the murder of George Floyd, the historic investment of state funding into community-based violence prevention programs, and the Police Officers Standards and Training Board’s (POST) decision to pass historic police licensing reforms.
While he worked at the legislature, Jamael earned a law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. During law school, Jamael worked as a regional field director for the 3rd Congressional District, a clerk for Administrative Law Judges in the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), a legal clerk at the state’s teachers union, and a congressional office’s policy advisor where he worked on education policy and African American community outreach.
